This CGPA Calculator is a fast, intuitive, and highly responsive web application designed specifically for engineering students at K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering. It simplifies the often complex process of calculating Semester Grade Point Averages (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPA). By dynamically tailoring to specific batches, branches, and semesters, the calculator automatically adapts its inputs to accurately reflect the student's actual syllabus, credits, and university evaluation schemes. It takes away the tedious manual spreadsheet work, allowing users to accurately predict, calculate, track, and download their academic pointers in seconds.

Key Features

  • Dynamic Subject Auto-Population: Automatically loads the exact subjects, credit weights, and required mark breakdowns (IA, MSE, ESE, CA, etc.) based on the user's selected Batch, Branch (e.g., Computer, IT, AIDS, Extc), and Semester.
  • Precise SGPA & CGPA Calculation Engines: Strictly adheres to KJSSE grading scales instantly converting raw marks and percentages into accurate grade points and final pointers.
  • Multi-Profile Management : Allows users to create, save, and seamlessly switch between multiple grade profiles locally. It features intelligent, context-aware navigation that automatically preserves and restores the exact calculation state for each individual profile.
  • Privacy First Architecture: 100% of the computations and profile management are securely handled locally within the user's browser via client-side scripts. No personal data, student marks, or saved profiles are ever sent to or stored on a server.

Why I built this

Calculating academic pointers accurately is more complicated than it should be, with varying subject credits, multiple assessment components, and layered grade conversions. I built this project to solve a real, recurring pain point for my college community, replacing messy spreadsheets and manual calculations with a simple, reliable web tool. Seeing peers depend on something I built to reduce their academic stress made this one of my most rewarding projects, even if it was technically simpler.
